Fremont Taste Spotting

After school early in the morning, Anne came over to hang out and we waited for Sherry to come to go to Mickie D's and Taco Bell for lunch. While they watched Raise Your Voice with great, (really great) enthusiasm, I fell asleep on my bed after surfing the web for a bit. By the time Lin and Jenell came, we went to pick up Dan and Kimmy and headed off to Bay Street Coffee Company. I ordered a really yummy cup of Almond Cocao Latte (which they claimed to be the seasonal special), and it was pretty darn special.

Then the 7 of us attended the Key Club January DCM and Pageant and showed up as early birds. Overall, it was a really cute mini get-together show and we all had a blast. The main song we kept singing over and over tonight was this. Before we went back to my house, we stopped by Yogurt Twist and the six of them got yogurt while I continued to sip on the new coffee my dad brought along. I.. have become a true coffee addict. I cannot wait to test out more coffee shops. It's the interest I've been meaning to dive deeper in for awhile. Once back, we cleared the dining table that I never eat at and played Cranium. It was definitely Game Night for sure. Team red for the way tonight! Surely you guys will have better luck next time Lin and Jenell! You guys won't be stuck on yellow forever. Trust me.

So from this blog, you are, or I am supposed to learn that... Bay Street Coffee Company is a 5.4/10. And that I can't ask for better friends.

Like a Friday Night

For one, I like how Starbucks finally got my name right for the first time ever. So this meaning that it was not spelled as J-a-m-e-s or put as Jem, Jenga or what, Jerry once?? That man definitely deserves an online high five.

For two, White Chocolate Mocha wasn't as bad as I thought. In fact, it was kind of good, especially since I was never a fan of white chocolate at all. But maybe things are about to change. Don't get me wrong though, because I know I won't ever grow old of dark chocolate.

For three, I watched When In Rome with Jenell, Lin, and Sherry tonight. To me, it was a pretty neat movie that still had the typical storyline. Though I will give kudos to the many hilarious parts in between. Kristin Bell or "Veronica Mars" sure knows how to do her job. I am going to get down to the movie's soundtrack tonight hopefully. I cannot wait for tomorrow to come! But at the same time, I don't want tonight to end. So, cheers to the Instant Italian Roast Microground Coffee packets I bought today.

All of my strength and energy’s starting to slowly wear off by the fourth day of the week. But at least I stuck to practicing the piano every single day of the week like I promised myself for once. As for my English 3 class, Their Eyes Were Watching God is a pretty interesting book when you actually take the time to translate the slang words and accents. I have to admit that Sparknotes helps increase my understanding of the chapters at times. I told you, I am a nerd-bird. I really cannot wait for it to be Friday already because I am honestly tired.

I am looking forward to going to the Key Club Pageant this Saturday with Sherry, Anne, Lin, Dan, and Jenell too. I am also excited to stop by Bay Street Coffee Company to try out some new drinks before we get to the Pageant. What I’d really like to do is to visit different coffee shops when I have the time and test out different recipes with either Vivian or Sherry. I cannot wait for CAHSEE testing week next week. Since the schedule’s going to allow us to start school in the noontime for both Tuesday and Wednesday, it means that I will have two full mornings to do whatever it is that I want to do and spend my time wisely. Hopefully Johnson and I will be able to go to Main St. Bagels and get some coffee for breakfast before we head off to school on one of the two free days. Maybe I will even get to arrange some neat early morning movie marathon plans or play crazy board games with the bros as well. Or if I do not go see When In Rome with Jenell and Dan tomorrow night, then we can definitely save it for next Wednesday morning. We will see for all of this though, since it depends if I fix up my orange road bike or not. If so, I’d like to dedicate some quiet time to myself and the road for a few hours.

Fortress Variations by Tim Waters

We are currently working on this piece in Wind Ensemble. I hope I will catch on sooner or later. They sound amazing in this video.

Tuesday, January 26, 2010

Currently reading: Their Eyes Were Watching God
by Zora Neale Hurston for my English 3 class.

If I ever said that I cannot think at night, then you must have been dreaming because that is absolutely not true. In fact I think that most things run through my mind once 8 o' clock strikes daily, just like how I see my mailman at 3:17 pm everyday by the time I pass by the 2nd house of my street, on the way home.

I had two Oatmeal Raisin granola bars this afternoon. Also, we are selling blue bracelets for the children of St. Jude Hospital for one dollar each. Find me in the hallways tomorrow. If you wave, I'm going to take it that you're looking for a new baby blue bracelet. (Okay, I didn't really mean that. But it is for a good cause, so I'll be around if you do decide to purchase one.)

I really do like lomographic photos. Genius, I mean look at this! Well this afternoon consisted of a lot of tension where Dan and my inner lions literally came out of us. But, there's nothing like a Monday night having things resolved and put under control once again. I have to thank the people around me for always being so supportive and understanding. Throughout all this chaos, I managed to complete my Math Analysis homework for Section 9. 5 all by myself for once. Though I was not able to get to bed by 10 pm, I'll try to make it before 11 pm. Goodnight everyone.

Sunday, January 24, 2010

For some reason, today was the first Sunday where I've suddenly become content with life. This meaning that I've suddenly come to the appreciation and gratefulness of the people around me and the things that I do. I wish I had embraced some things earlier, because I have also come to be happier with myself. Peter used to always say that the first step to life is to start with yourself. I was never sure of what he meant, but today, in an unexplainable way, I think I finally get it.

I spent my Sunday wisely and efficiently. I did laundry and folded clothes like my mom told me to so in the morning over a piece of paper. I worked on a page of Spanish homework that I understood word for word for, for the first time. I spent my Sunday afternoon and night (up until now) learning about European History. So I learned so much from the German Fatherland poem and got so much information out of the entire chapter 23. I absolutely read all of it. Instead of going downtown with Trung to the library this afternoon and getting Philz Coffee, I made myself some Green Tea at home and drank it out of my dad's favorite mug. I also worked on this not so successful mix CD for Johnson. It wasn't how I expected it to be because the pen I use to create my mixes with, ran out of ink. There comes an end to every thing, but a new beginning to the newer things. World War I definitely, definitely did not just happen in one day. But one day of it changed a lot just as to how one Sunday changed everything for me. Well okay, not everything, but hopefully you know what I mean. I look forward to getting some freshly brewed coffee... next week.

And now, for your reward of getting through this corny blog, you can listen to this song:

Meiko-How Lucky We Are

- because I mean we are all pretty lucky in some way.

-Jane-willy

Exciteddd! Just what I've been waiting for.

Saturday, January 23, 2010

The Don't Stop Believin' Charity Dinner was tonight. I thought it was a neat event to help "End Polio" pronto. Ben tried to be Lady Gaga and Vivian was the bubbly one as always. Not only did I get through the non-boring SATS this morning with Justin Tang, but I also regathered some of my scattered thoughts, tonight. So I feel as though I am back as one again. Tomorrow will be another study day, perhaps with Trung in the afternoon. First stop: I am hoping Philz Coffee. I am mildly obsessed with it and I cannot wait to go there with Jenell the very next time. I miss hanging out with her a lot. But hey, maybe everything's starting to turn around slowly again. Happy almost Sunday folks.

Friday, January 22, 2010

"Philz Coffee is not your average coffee shop. We do things differently around here."

Now honestly, this coffee shop is exactly what I've been looking for. I like how they switch up their menus every once in awhile and mix different kinds of beans together to create new blends. Coffee will never be the same again.

All I'm looking for right now is that nicely blended cup of hand-crafted coffee to sip on before the big morning tomorrow. Good luck to all.

Today I saw an old man use a trash claw to pick up twigs and branches on the sidewalk after school in such bleak weather. At that moment, a) I wanted to see my grandma b) I wanted to magically pull out an extra trash claw from somewhere to help him c) I was still madly in love with old folks.

I managed to finish my math homework, write out the script for tomorrow's skit for U.S. History, research the point-of-view assignment for Euro, understand my Spanish homework, and make an online poll for the Fantastics theme tonight. I even practiced piano for a bit (and that rarely happens on weekdays). I think I just want to get back into the habit of sleeping either by 10 or before 11:30 pm. I don't know how long this routine will last but I'm hoping for awhile until I have to get back on the run again for intense long nights of preparations for Fantastics and Prom. Right now, I am just hoping that Ms. Kennett will read my email (s) by tomorrow morning. I want to be able to WAKE UP IN THE MORNIN' and ...not have to refresh the School Loop home page again. Too many refreshes in one night.

Wednesday, January 20, 2010

It's 10:11 pm. Johnson and I just had this surprisingly interesting conversation about what we are necessarily looking for in the opposite sex. Well, for me, I never really thought about such things going so far. As odd as it seems, I've always been on the search for someone who's more imaginable and charismatic. Perhaps someone who is willing to be keen to new experiences and able to make halfway plans. My example of this would be someone who probably holds the thought that it is definitely possible to touch the end of the rainbow someday. ( Which probably does not exist or maybe, I don't know, but that is exactly why.)

But for now, I am going to let myself get back to my Spanish homework. I am looking forward to flying some kites in the windy weather this weekend. ( Which is not going to happen, but the thought of it makes me kind of excited.) Goodnight San Jose.

And by the way, this is Milpitas on one of its gloomy days in mid-late January. The Milpitas library is definitely one of the most relaxing places to be at on such days.

Hello bloggers. With SATS coming up this Saturday, it's like a mini finals preparation break right now, where Anne and I are trying to cram all the tips given altogether. No worries, I am not about to explode. In fact, I am feeling rather excited. Now I am feeling this true nerd-bird status at the moment. But I mean I just like having to choose the correct letter out of the five given. It reminds me of how I have to make decisions in life quick, but with logic and reason. The fact that I am so indecisive at times kills me. But I believe that there are eventually enough loopholes for everyone to crawl through in the time being. Peter likes to say, "when life gets a little crazy, people tend to forget how to breathe." I could not agree more.

Costco: definitely holds the best chicken

I was just roaming around searching for new paperback books, checking out the first season of Glee on DVD, and playing Scrabble on one of their shiny desktops earlier. So I suppose this is what Jane-willy does on a rainy Sunday morning.

But it's been settled. Underdogs--serious board game gamers--will rise. Dan and I have continued to brainstorm different techniques to win the next game of Cranium.

Life has become a battlefield, my friends.

Help put the word out there.

This was very psycho indeed!

We were watching all 7 episodes at Dan's house earlier, so I thought I might share this with all the guys who might have psychotic girlfriends out there too. I'd say Kimmy, Dan, and I can definitely reenact the scenes for you guys.

"The Beatles..The Shack..?
Lava Lamp"

So what's it gonna be?

This morning I went birthday shopping for Jasmine and Karney with Sherry at Valleyfair and Santana Row. There, I was able to get a delicious cup of strawberry and blueberry yogurt at Starbucks for breakfast. For the reward of skipping most tempting purchases along the way, I also got myself some super Razzmatazz -y juice at Jamba Juice later on. Luckily, Sherry's dad was nice enough to take us to Target afterward. It was at 3: 15 pm when I officially adopted the game Cranium as my own.

Tonight, I went to Dan's house to play Loaded Questions and Cranium. Boy, or Girllll, game night is what it's all about! We played in teams and Dan was on my team of course. David and Kimmy were one and it was supposed to be Dennis and Andrew but then Andrew had to leave early. So it was 3 against 2. Dan , we rock at the sculptures and drawings! I can't wait to get more board games. It's time to study those music acts and science facts. Next round will be ours.

But anyway, after SATS...you know where we'll be at.

You know, just trying to match.

Even if we go back 21 days or not, Sufjan Stevens and his Christmas songs will still be the best in January, February, March, and the rest of the months of the year.
Travel Sack, Final Packed, I Am Back?

Finals are finally over. I find it not hard to believe that this week went by just like that. I knew that this week would not go by like nothing, but not quite as everything. I don't know what I am thinking.

Well actually I could possibly be thinking that I can't wait for the next semester. There's finally time to work hard again. I also like how everyone is able to get along with each other in Leadership. I am thinking that I am glad that there are so many activities to plan and attend for the upcoming months. There's Sadies, Sadies decorations, Valentine's Day dance and decorations, Fantastics, Prom, The YouTube Benefit Show, talent show(s), concerts, and then the Seniors' graduation. The rest of the year may or may not go by in a dash, but we will see. So this is the life of a Junior. I would have never guessed.

-If you could find the answer key to the entire universe at Border's, then props to you. But too bad it does not exist. Or even if a book like that really did exist, Peter and I have already established that the answers would most likely be incorrect.
Hi there! What have you all been up to? Finals, I bet! Because I've been focusing on my own as well and things have been going pretty well. There's something different about this year, and it's definitely the fact that I've been focusing a lot harder than last year and panicking less. I remember how I walked straight home from school on final days last year and began to make procrastination videos while eating the truckload of waffles my mom made. This year, I've been going to the library with some friends and most of the times, I've been getting things done and it's that feeling of success once more. Today, I have my Euro presentation first thing in the morning and then I'm off to band for 2 hours of practice.

Tomorrow comes the doom of the doom, which hopefully won't really be the doom of the doom: Spanish. I want to get my cups of Philz coffee after school today since we get out fairly early. Then I'll be off to more studying at the library downtown with Sherry and Anne.

This post is generally about the word study.

Kudos

I'd really like to visit the Andy Warhol Museum in Pennsylvania someday. Someday hopefully after I graduate high school. It's been an amazing experience researching about him for U.S. History. I can not be more glad that I decided to choose him over Martha Washington. I am so excited for tomorrow's presentation! It's going to be great. I already packed a small can of Campbell soup in my backpack for display, asked Tiffany to let me borrow her Andy Warhol bag, made a short Power point presentation of his works of art, wrote 13 note cards that I hope that I will not use, and printed out the 2 page summary about him along with the bibliography.

Good luck to all who are going early tomorrow!

Hello bloggers. So here is a post that you guys will probably never see again. Well maybe, but not anytime soon again.

"Money is always going to be a problem in life , unless you have an extremely rich parent (s). In the lives of normal people, money is a bitch. You can't live without it , but you can't live with it."
- Peter Vu

In the words of the wisest Peter Vu I know, he can not be more correct than he already is. We were just having this what we call heart-to-heart conversation that we have once in awhile, and it just got both of us thinking about all sorts of plans that lay ahead of us. He once told me he wanted to open his own bookstore when he grows very old and I see myself being in ... possibly a coffee shop when I am pretty old someday. Planning new things can be exciting, so I don't know where it's going to take us this time but I just know that one week , or even one day can change someone's mind like mine very quickly. One second I like doing this, and then the next I feel like it's all crap. It either turns out to be useless, disappointing, or just not worth it. But whatever it is, it's all going to be worth it in the end in some way, somehow. And that is the line I go by because if you don't think so , chances are it won't be so.

I realized that I really do like school. And this is making me sound nerdier than I already am, but that is definitely a fact. It's nice to face different people everyday and learn to cope with the difficult at certain times. Peter thinks that high school is going to still be completely bogus to him by the time he graduates and looks back. To me, you could possibly hear me say something like that maybe tomorrow, but I know that it's not completely true. Because in the end, there's actually going to be a lot to look back to like the things I've done. Things like being in clubs, going to meetings, participating in Leadership events, playing sports, etc. The one thing I'd truly miss.... will remain a secret for now partly a) because I have not come up with something unforgettable yet and b) a secret's a secret. The whole "a secret's secret is to not have a secret" thing with Peter and me doesn't work this time.

I am grateful for the many things I do and hopefully it stays that way for as long as I live. On another side note, friends were always something more. It's nice to know that there will always be at least one person cheering you on from behind no matter what happens. When I possibly create my own state called Janesylvania someday, at least I'll know that Peter will have already accomplished fighting a bear.

Hopefully the new year brings something brighter for all of us this time.

Falling in Love at a Coffee Shop
- Landon Pigg

I know that finals are coming when a) my room is very messy and b) when coffee cups start to pop out of nowhere. For some reason ( a very good reason), I am feeling very good about the past few days. Going to the library with Sherry and Anne really helps me release some stress and actually feel productive with what I do. I get a lot of things done when I am in a quiet environment and I like that.

I searched up a lot of information about Andy Warhol tonight and I am more than excited to do a Powerpoint presentation about him in character. I'm even excited to write the 2-page typed paper as well.. Nothing has gotten in to me. I just realized even more so that no one really likes procrastinating when they have things to do and things that they want to get done. The feeling of success just feels good.

Goodnight. Another work day awaits tomorrow.

Biffles or what?
-In the words of Dan, I meant bfflz.

I finally wore my purple and gray class lanyard today. But I wore it at the very last hour before school went out. Maybe I will come to love wearing lanyards. I really don't know yet, but I just know that I've never really been a fan of them. But for the sake of class spirit and upcoming events, lanyards are going to be a pretty important part for the future Junior Prom and Fantastics. Speaking of Junior Prom, I will make the ballots hopefully right after Finals are over. Surprisingly this week went by quickly and it all just sort of happened.

And wow , another earthquake happened today! I know that things like earthquakes are serious, but I have to say that I am pretty excited for the next one. So because I don't lie, I am not going to leave something like this out this time. (Only because Sherry says I tend to leave things out even when I tell the truth as always.)

- Honest Holly.
But of course my name is really Jane.

"Chapter Reviewers ( Chapters 2, 3, 7, 8, 9 ) and bring them on Monday. Those who will bring their own copies of the reviewers will have a surprise on Monday."
-Ms. Mac

You guys, whatever it is, I like the sound of the high chance of a definite possibility to raising my grade. A printing party will be going on this weekend for sure. Today I went to the MLK library with Sherry and Anne after school and the good thing was that we were all being productive. There were no bad sides to this. I actually finished most of my math homework on my own for the first time. I thank Sherry and Anne for always being there because at the end of the day, I know that I will always be able to count on them. I can't wait for our next study date!

By the way, want to buy a lanyard? I know you do.

I took 1, 141 steps back home today from the distance of Karney's house to my garage. This was all to help me get home faster while trying to forget that I was carrying a heavy cardboard box of paint bottles, rolls of tape, and new purple and gray lanyards.

You can purchase the lanyards from any of the class officers for $5 each. I will buy mine tonight from myself. Hopefully you will find us tomorrow.

Ello Jello blogspotters. My sleeping schedule and napping systems have been really off and I really don't think they will change anytime soon.

So, just a reminder, Juniors, there will be a class meeting in Ms. Kennett's room, F-25 tomorrow at lunch! We will be discussing prom themes, Fantastsics, and an upcoming dance??? Well, there will definitely be sign-ups for Fantastics.

And for Prom, Jennifer suggested Monte Carlo. It all sounds pretty snazzy and I think it's a really great replacement of any title that literally states "Las Vegas." Monte Carlo sounds different, doesn't it? Another long night awaits because I have a big Spanish test to study for--the last test she said we would not have , and the chapter that I said I never understood. Good luck to all.

Jim James Carrey

Here is one of the many wow-scenes from The Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind. I thought the movie deserved at least somewhat of a high praise because movies like these always give me these exotic feelings towards the end. It's something like wow, I can't believe I just watched this. Fascinating.

So yesterday I actually came through with studying about two chapters of intense Math-Analysis for a good few hours until I got lost around myself again. Math-- always such a challenge. In the mean time, I tried to edit the movie review for The Young Victoria to see what I was not sure of since I was going to see it again with Kevin later at night. Surely time ticked by as usual and we went downtown to see the movie and like a book that is read more than once, you always catch new things that you could have but did not quite possibly capture the first time.

I followed through the entire movie and it definitely made more sense than I could possibly imagine the third-fourth time. Afterward, we went to Denny's and ate brinner-breakfast dinner and had some lasting conversations about a few old friends. A little past midnight, we went up Suncrest to check out the view of what San Jose really looked like at night. Amazing, kind of like a big piece of painting to me. Coming back home, Jennifer saved a piece of hazel-nut chocolate mousse cake for me from the best Bijan Bakery downtown. I told her about the interesting last night out while she somewhat shared about seeing Sherlock Holmes. Then and there, I was glad yet again, that she is still my corky-dorky brother's girlfriend--the one person who actually covers and cares for me. I could not have asked for more.

To Dan who's back in the Band
Well, not literally. I just wanted to rhyme. So in reply of your responses:
1. Ha ha ha. I never got to eat the dragon fruit. My mama told me to wait.
2. Project 365 , only Katie could handle such a challenge!
3. Chewing gum again?! Maybe only... Probably not.
4. My party hat was still crooked! Not cool like Anne's and Sherry's!
5. Winter Passing was really good! It's like a mellow version of Rocket Science.
6. Good to have you back on board hwip.

Hey Girl,
mine's a dragon fruit

picture from here

I didn't know what a dragon fruit was. I kind of still don't. My mom just showed me it. I want to eat it.

I admire this kind of determination. Good luck with Project 365.
2010's
First
Breakfast

The International House of Pancakes was the first breakfast place Sherry and I thought of since the beginning of break. We finally got to it and I am glad that I enjoyed a delicious breakfast with such a good friend. We were in the homey restaurant for what seemed like years, but the time spent was spent nevertheless worthwhile. I had about three cups of nicely brewed coffee with many, many bags of IHOP sugar. After eating breakfast, we made a small summarized list of the new year's resolutions on post-its. As you can see, five will probably not be enough for me, so I just might type out oh maybe 30 more later. But that depends.

P.S. Sherry is correct. I do not lie about stuff. I just tend to leave out certain things. Well, anyway, enjoy the rest of this delightful Friday, the oh-very-charming-first-day-of 2010--the double digit generation. Totes Magotes.
