I watched Rushmore last night and finished it this afternoon. I thought it was a decent 90's movie. It's really about Carl Fischer, a 15-year-old boy who has the passion for attending this private school named Rushmore to the bottom of his heart. Though he is not the brightest through his academics, he is the most determined towards his extra curricular activities. But when he gets kicked out for promoting particular activities at the school, he tries to pull his life together at a public school, while being in love with an elementary school teacher at the same time. The movie soundtrack is worth listening to. I decided to give the movie a 5.5/10. The .5 is for Bill Murray's presence in the movie as a man named Herman Blume. Did you guys know that he played the voice of Badger in Fantastic Mr. Fox? Well, I thought that that was fascinating.

road trip emergency packing

Hello Bloggers. This afternoon my dad called me and told me that he and my mom decided that we are leaving tomorrow morning. Well, well, what a surprise. I thought we were planning to leave on Sunday, so I was still thinking of the list that I would write down later in the day. I am still very excited even though tonight I cannot be the early packer that I like to be. In addition, the thought of leaving tomorrow so suddenly also feels...spectacular.

I was not really informed on how many days we will be out for, but I do know that we are going to go to San Diego to see my brother and take his car to be fixed somewhere in Anaheim. Then we will stay in Las Vegas for a few days and take the tour bus to Arizona. I want to take Carlos (Carl for short), my bike, along. But we will see tomorrow morning.

This morning I woke up early and caught up on the fourth episode of Pretty Little Vampires. Oh you guys, A is getting a bit creepy, but the show itself is getting more addicting. Right after I finished it on abcfamily.com, Lin and I went to see Eclipse at the Eastridge Mall. The two hours long movie was a 6/10. I'll say it was at least above average because I enjoyed some parts and the ending. Now if Jacob talked while he was in wolf formation, then that would have made the movie a 5. It was a good thing that the wolves did not speak in the movie, because for some strange reason, I only think of the movie Narnia when I think of animals talking. So I like to think that Narnia should stay as Narnia and Twilight should stay as Twilight. Also, we were watching a few movie trailers before the movie started right, and guess what? They are having Step Up 3 in 3D. I really don't think that that is necessary, but if every single movie likes to be shown in 3D nowadays, then so be it.

In the late afternoon, I went to my piano lesson and came straight home to packing frantically.

I need to get back to making last minute mix CDS for the trip now. Goodnight and I will be back soon! Have a good week every one.

Mr. Coffee? Check.
2 gallons of distilled water? Check.
Jane in the cart? Check.

(I was too tired! Anne told me that it was legal in Target to sit, but not stand in the cart. So I did it and all the red-collared workers looked at me funny. It is a free country people.)

the farm life

I thought yesterday's life was tough down at the creek. But then I experienced making ice cream first hand at Anne's house today.

First of all, this morning, I set out at 6:30 am as usual, and today Calvin helped me oil my chains and pump my bike. This post should also remind me to buy a new pump because mine does not work well. The two of us biked all the way to Warm Springs, which is in Fremont and back. It sure was one smooth ride but my arms? They're jello. My legs? They're jello liquid. I felt a little bit light-headed when I got back, but I decided to head to Anne's house anyway. We met up with Vincent, and the three of us biked to the Berryessa library for early morning Key Club service. I liked cleaning the shelves and wiping the windows. I liked being in there early and looking at DVDs. We followed Linda's instructions and opened each DVD box to check if there were any mistaken discs and/or absurd numbered labels. There weren't many, but there were stacks of DVDs to check in an hour.

After two hours passed by, the three of us biked back to my house to get my wallet and not ran, but rode into Calvin's car. He offered to take us to Target, but we decided to continue biking on the road. The four of us at Target shopped separately. Anne had to look for a friend's present and I had to look for distilled water for my plants.

After Target, Calvin left for work and the three of us biked all the way back to Anne's house to feast. I had some waffles and syrup for part of my lunch. Then when someone brought up ice cream, Anne wanted to make some. That's when I started to play dead and laid on her carpet. I was feeling so tired that I didn't want to crush ice and duct-tape the cans. I remembered what it was like to make ice cream in Mr. Mac's Chemistry Honors class in 10th grade. It didn't turn out so well and it didn't taste that pleasant either. But Anne bribed me with expired chocolate-chip cookies that I didn't know were expired. I decided to help her in the end anyway. As said, we crushed ice, and duct-taped cans together and added ice cream salt in. Then we took the Coffee Mate can outside and kicked it around like a rock-hard soccer ball until we decided that it was ready.

And guess what? Ta-freaking-da. It was... sort of ready. It tasted really good because she added some coffee ingredients. But the outcome was kind of watery, so we decided to freeze it and have me come back tomorrow morning. Ice cream for breakfast? That is a maybe. After the big commotion of a playful argument regarding how history or literature is better than math and science combined, with Anne, Vincent, and her brother, I decided to bike home and take a cold shower.

I wonder if I am going to watch Eclipse with Lin tonight. I miss Chad, Dan, and Kimmy.

the urban jungle

Yesterday morning I got up at 6:30 am to go play tennis with Vincent by 7:30 am at Cataldi Park. Since it was still early, we decided to bike to McDonald's for breakfast. As usual, I had the Yogurt Parfait. I just can't get enough of it, you know? Then we biked down to the Penetencia Creek to make this "mini raft." But it's more like a mini "thing." We put this together purely out of natural supplies. This is the creek life, my friends. We found different pieces of "string," a.k.a. grass stems and weed bits to tie the branches and sticks together. We tried to stuff  leaves, grass bits, and a piece of this one McDonald's cup in the middle too. In the end, it floated really well and there I was, trying to stop it from getting stuck between any logs and sticks.

Also, for some reason, every time I bike down to the creek, I always forget my camera. So here are some pictures from my LG Voyager. This will not happen for a third time.

In the afternoon, I biked to my grandma's house with my dad. Seeing my grandma so weak in the hot weather made me very sad. Despite my favorite season of the year, I do hope that the weather cools down some time, so my grandma can breathe better. She said that the one thing that would be nice at the moment would be to sit by the beach. If my busy parents had extra time, I am sure that they would take her some time. And if I could drive, I'd take her right now.

guess who

Anne is truly amazing. Look how good looking Edward Cullen looks here.

i hope i catch some evil dreams tonight

Today I practiced one of five piano test songs until my fingers wanted to fall off. I also got to some reading. I am currently in the middle of Bella almost being attacked by the evil vampire.

I also made a childish dream catcher on my own tonight. After searching through various DIY dream catcher websites, I settled with my own in the end. I used a lot of clear tape and beads. I wish I had more feathers, but unfortunately I still have to get to buying more. Next time, I want colored feathers.

I want to be forever young.

tell me why

I find it hard to finish some books at times. Do you see what I have here? Well if you do not for some strange reason, I will tell you. There are five pieces of either post its or note cards sticking out and do you know what this means? It means that I have yet to finish any of them. I like to start one new book and then move on to another.

But I will finish all of these. i will... i will i will i will i will.

what i've been listening to all morning long

Neon Trees-Animal

peaceful saturday afternoon

Yesterday Calvin and I biked to Bank of America so I could deposit the cash that I vowed to not be tempted to use. Then I used coins to purchase the Yogurt Parfait at McDonald's for breakfast. I also got this golden picture frame at the Dollar Tree for the photobooth picture we took on Friday night afterward. Do not ever underestimate the Dollar Tree. They sell good quality tape there.

Then we went down to the creek and brainstormed more ideas on how to fix up our bikes. That's all day, every day. Bike talk. (Alright, not literally all day and every day.)
For some reason, this is one of my favorite pictures of OK Go. My LG Voyager finally did something right for once.

Corpus Callosum-Lullaby #2

my ultimate weekend that started early

I suppose it started on Thursday for me because when it is summer, I tend to forget what day it is sometimes when I do not have my handy dandy agenda with me. I am still using the sheet of paper that SCU gave me about a week ago. The calendar sheet sure came in use when I had to write down all the days I planned to go hiking, biking, or what not for the past few days.

On Thursday, I went on another epic biking adventure. I met up with Peter, Kevin, and Aaron (who is my new friend), and we biked from Piedmont to Milpitas and stopped at this one park. Then I thought I saw four astronauts, but they were really just men who liked to wear astronaut-like puffy suits to spray plants. But they had those astronaut-like backpacks, but they were really just motorized backpack sprayers. After roaming around the park, we biked to McCarthy Ranch. Going up that "mini freeway" was kind of intense. But the four of us made it through safely and sat outside this one sushi place to eat Cliffbars. We tried to share life stories but they didn't really work out.

On our way back, my left eye contact started attacking my left eye. Then it was back to the whole feeling of a million needles stabbing through one by one again. The sun was so blazing hot that it made my eyes start to water like a waterfall. When my eye started to feel swollen, I ran into this Noodles Restaurant and took the left eye contact out. The others claimed that no man gets left behind, so they all walked their bikes back from Greatmall to my house with me. In one hand, I held the left eye contact, and in the other I tried to save my bike from crashing into anything while walking it back at the same time. I probably caught so much more dirt, dust and whatever infectious bacteria on my way back while holding it in the air for about an hour. Luckily I came home and put it in the contacts case immediately and grabbed my glasses.

We were going to head to Jamba Juice, but instead we decided to share life stories again in front of my driveway, by the shade. Those didn't turn out too well either, because the stories always ended up coming from one person. After cooling off, we headed over to Kevin's house to help him pack for Seattle. But we ended up not helping him pack, because we decided to watch Peter jam out to the keyboard songs. Then we decided to go to Peter Piper's house. And I am glad that we went over there because his amazing backyard had a huge patio that I never took the time to walk on, and so many flower pots that my mom would kill to own. I liked watching Peter Piper wind up the umbrella shade stand. It took him a good few minutes until he finished. There was the dark side, and then there was the light side. I was in the sun of course, while Peter Piper and Aaron were in the shade.

After spending a day as long as one full school day with them, the rest of the night was spent taking a few naps here and there since I could barely open my sore eye at that time. I couldn't really read a book or watch television, so I just closed my left eye, which eventually made my right eye close as well. But back to television, I caught up on Pretty Little Liars and must I say that this show is going to be on my new Abc Family list.

Now, continuing to Friday, which was yesterday. In the morning, I went hiking up the "mountain lion trail," or as known as the "Sycamore Trail" in alum rock park. It took us up through many rocky loops and we encountered exactly eight rabbits that ran away from us and a billion squirrels. We listened to nature and listened to squirrels squeak. Do you guys know what squirrels sound like when they squeak? Well, I do. And this is what it sounds like if you have not heard them before yet. Click here. Now imagine if you could speak squirrel. After the morning hike, Calvin took me to McDonald's and bought me breakfast, which I did not really eat because I had to get to the library. So he took me home and put my orange bike into his car and drove me to the library. I did my library service from 10:00 -11:00 am and met Ashleen, who is going to be in incoming senior at Piedmont. So it was really fun to hang out with her and Jennifer Poon at the same time. They are such great people! It's nice to know that people have so much planned ahead for them. Jennifer says she wants to possibly be a pharmacist, while Ashleen considers the field of pediatrics.

I really didn't want to leave after one hour, but I had to rush home to open the garage door for Anh, who wanted to come early for the concert. But we had hours to kill before the Left Coast Live concert, so we asked Calvin take us to Target, to buy colorful pony beads. At my house, we made feather necklaces out of these old feathers I had, pony beads, and yarn. I made one for Lin as well, so we could all wear them at the concert for fun. When Lin came over, my dad took us Downtown and we had so much fun walking around, checking out the different venues. But we mainly stayed at the main stage because we wanted to see the Neon Trees and OK Go. It's too bad that we didn't get to see Corpus Callosum and Urban Animals live because OK Go didn't finish until 10:30 pm and they played before that time. But the concert itself was fantastic! I melted after I got to touch Damian Kulash, the lead singer of Ok Go's hand. Yes I am a little fan girl who just said that. It was literally crazy and I will never forget how close we were to the stage.

It's too bad that I can't go see Yo La Tengo tonight, but I am sure that Saturday night will end just as well. I hope you all had a swell time for the past few days and I will see you guys at the Key Club Zoofari Event tonight! (Maybe.)

Mouse Trap Life Size

Seeing the 50,000 pound life size Mouse Trap game just blew me away. I used to play this game so much with my brother. We took it everywhere we went for vacation and I forced the other kids who went with us to play too. Now, I'd do anything to find the missing pieces of the game that we have at home.

Left Coast Live
At the Main Stage, we saw Free Energy, Neon Trees, and OK Go. After 10:30 pm, we caught April Chase leaving just in time. Oh, and there was this incredible community mural room where we were free to paint exotic things spontaneously. I would also like to give props to the coolest unlimited photo booth there too, because Lin and I finally got a chance to experience it.
