Are we done? Or ARE WE DONE?!

Goodbye SAT books. You guys are not going in the recycle bin because you guys are going to my mother's new collection. (That is correct. My mother says she wants to study them in the future to expand her range of knowledge and better her literal and mathematical skills..)

the worst thing that could happen to you on the SAT day

Just yesterday, I remember Eric, my SAT instructor, saying that the absolute worst thing that could happen to you on the SAT day is having your scientific calculator run out of batteries.

Well, this was exactly what happened to Christine this morning. Oh the irony.

But then a few seconds later, Christian immediately pulled out a bag of batteries out of his backpack for her.

At that point, it changed to "oh the luck."
This is it. Work hard, play hard.

have a good night sleep

bookmobiles

I think I just discovered that I am possibly allergic to Mango yogurt because my lips are now swollen.

Instead of having people take the SATs in the future, the rules should be changed to throwing messy confetti bits everywhere, making festive sweet candy cupcakes, creating such d-i-y bookmobiles, and playing with Legos inside cardboard boxes early on a Saturday morning. Now tell me how great things would be then. If only.

Good luck on the SATs tomorrow everybody. After the test, you guys can throw all the confetti bits you guys want.

won't you meet me with alice in wonderland

thursday night

Thinking back, last year, I was warned that Homecoming Week would be the most stressful week of the year last year in Leadership. Now that it is Homecoming Week again, instead of painting those mile long posters of detailed backdrops, my body is slowly absorbing the weariness of searching for scholarships and gathering college information this week altogether. Though I have to admit that I have not been very spirited with this year's theme and class participation so far, I do hope to be more involved with the class in the later days when I have the time. Lately, I have been using my spare time wisely to study for the SAT. The fact that this is the last time that I am going to take the reasoning test really makes me excited. No, the fact that it is almost Halloween makes me excited.

See you guys at the Homecoming Rally tomorrow.

Matt Hires-A Perfect Day

Homecoming 54 Card Deck Mission

Lin and I were assigned to the family of spades. Tomorrow is the seniors' day to dress up for our Homecoming Theme, Alice in Wonderland, so we didn't want to back out. But I wonder if anybody actually dropped out of this mission last minute.

fresh choice is the way to go
fresh choice is the way we went

Jasmine and I decided to have lunch at Fresh Choice this afternoon because we have developed a habit of hanging out after school together on Wednesdays. Wednesdays equal school library party days. At the school library, I studied the SAT book for a bit and then found some college catalogs to check out when I finished studying.
So this is what my illuminated name poster for English looks like. I got a little bit color-happy.

baby tomato

What you see here is a baby tomato. My mother bought a bag full of these at the Farmer's Market last Sunday, and I have been eating them at school ever since.

Glass Pear-Last Day of Your Life
i wish i was a professional collage artist

dr kennedy jones
This weekend, I wore only one earring due to the infection of my right ear, went to SCU to take the practice SAT test for four hours, ran into Sherry at the mall, picked up some new snacks and groceries from Trader Joe's, played a new piece on the piano, went to a Middle Eastern and Greek Festival with my mother and walked out disappointed, ran and walked about seven miles, had lunch with Vincent, visited the Wildlife Festival at Alum Rock unintentionally, worked on my name poster for English, studied the SAT tips, filled out scholarship forms, edited the millionth draft of my real Personal Statement, and worked on my first CSU application for college. Weekends are meant to be interesting and productive.

I can live without a phone at this rate.

This Friday Night

Sarah Hermans
Things are really starting to turn around lately. I quit my job last Thursday due to a few personal reasons, but what's important now is that I focus on looking more into certain colleges and reaching these goals that I set for myself. The fact that college applications are not around the corner anymore is kind of a big deal. All of this is happening so fast that I can barely explain how things are actually going as of right now. I just know that the upcoming months will be very exciting. I would like to take this time to thank Avid for giving me the opportunity to meet such compatible diverse friends, tutor such interesting topics, and find out so much about certain colleges for the past few weeks. This class has really helped me think outside of the box.

On Wednesday night, I found out that Kevin Lai's middle name is Hocy. It is pronounced "hockey" and is actually supposed to literally mean the sport hockey. But his parents left out the letter "e" for some reason. Interesting. I love learning about people's middle names.

On Wednesday afternoon, Kenny, one of the Special Ed kids and I had a short conversation after the Bloomers Club meeting. It went a little something like this:

Kenny: Hey Jane! ( In his usual feminine tone ).
Me: Hey Benny! I mean Kenny.
Kenny: Do you have a crush on me???
Me: Did you just ask if I had a crush on you?? Why, do you have a crush on me?
Kenny: Yeah, because I kind of have a crush on you. So do you?
Me: Yeah, I have a crush on you.

Oh he's very cute. I wish he was my little brother. Then, I could bring him with me and introduce him to everyone I know.

Tomorrow I have a practice SAT test at SCU again, so I am going to review for a bit tonight.

the dan and jane monthly project take # 2

So Dan and I like to call ourselves Batteries for bizarre reasons. Maybe that's why we're best friends. We're both strange. So here is the picture of the month.

the special things in life

Today is Khaled's sweet 16th birthday. The rest of the Special Ed kids sang Happy Birthday after their last game of soccer in this unit. There are two equally sweet pictures here. One is little Hanh giving Khaled a hug. The other is proof of Amy actually showing the sweet side of her when she feels happy. I'm glad that Khaled's birthday made her smile. It also makes me happy that everyone in this period likes each other in the end, no matter what happens.
